GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

ACE believes in equal opportunity to all students, irrespective of cast, creed, sex and religion. The purpose of rules and regulations stated in this section helps to maintain discipline that is required in any educational institution. We expect the corporation of all students and guardians to achieve our objective.

A. ADMISSION PROCEDURE

All prospective candidates should comply with the following admission procedure.
  1. Submit the filled in application form with two coloured passport photographs.
  2. All the selected candidates will be intimated through post. However , a student may contact the office after 15 days if he/she does not receive any intimation.
  3. If a student does not receive intimation regarding the personal interview within 15 days of submission of the form, he/she is requested to get in touch with the office immediately.
  4. Admission for the course, if selected, will have to be taken within the stipulated date otherwise, seats will be offered to wait list candidates. Please note that no extension of dates for admission will be permitted.
  5. Admission will only be granted to selected students after they have submitted the following:
    . Two certified testimonials
    . All certified testimonials.
    . Duly signed declaration form.

B. PAYMENT OF FEES

  1. The entire fees are to be paid within the stipulated date at the office and the students for future reference should retain the receipt.
  2. Payment may be made in cash or demand draft, drawn in favour of "Academy of Culinary Education" payable at Panaji, Goa.
  3. Please note that fees are not transferable and non-refundable, except if in case the management cancels the course.
  4. In case of request for deferred payments ; post dated cheques will have to be given by the student as per the arrangement with the school.

C. COURSE ADMINISTRATION

I. GROOMING

  1. Students should come prepared with separate theoretical and practical uniforms as stipulated.
  2. Students should carry their own practical tool kits
  3. Boys should have short and properly groomed hair and well-trimmed nails.
  4. Girls should have properly groomed hair, clean & well-trimmed nails with out nail polish. Perfumes/other cosmetics are not allowed. Except on special occasion, not more than one finger ring or a bangles are allowed.
  5. During class hour, carrying of institute identity card is compulsory.
  6. Students found without proper grooming or proper uniform will not be allowed to attend the class for the day. Students found violating the rule thrice in a month will loose 5% of his/her semester attendance, each time.

II. DRESS CODE.

During college hours (9:30 am. - 5 p.m.) the Dress code shall be as follows:-
FORMAL
Boy's formal: Trousers - Full sleeve shirts - Necktie
Girl's formal : Saris/Salwar Khameez/Trousers, Skirts of regular length and shirts.

CHEF'S UNIFORM

Black and white checked trousers - White Chef coat - double breasted, full sleeves Scarf - White apron - Chef cap and closed black shoes with socks (black). Students should have name tags on their uniform and carry with them two clean dusters, too kits and cookery journal.

III. ATTENDANCE

  1. Minimum 80% attendance is required in each semester and for each subject to qualify for the final examinations.
  2. Guardians are sincerely requested not to call their wards home for petty reasons as that hampers the learning process and attendance of the student.
  3. Leave without authentic medical certificate, will be treated as absence.
  4. No further request or correspondence will be entertained regarding attendance and the minimum attendance required shall be viewed seriously.

D. CLASS TIMINGS & VACATIONS

  1. 1. Classes will be held from Monday to Friday from 9.30 am. To 5 p.m.
  2. 2. The Institute office will remain closed on Saturdays (Afternoons) Sundays and holidays.
  3. 3. The Institute will have 15 days or 30 days holidays after each semester depending on completion of syllabus.
  4. 4. However, the Institute may organize special classes on Saturdays and Sundays, incase of exigency and non-completion of syllabus.

E. EXAMINATION

  1. The institute will conduct final examination after completion of each semester.
  2. Students will not be permitted to sit for the examination , if he/she:
    . Fails to obtain 80% attendance.
    . Does not clear the tuition fees.
    . Does not deposit library books.
    . Does not obtain satisfactory grading from the Executive Chef during "On the job Training " at the hotel kitchen.
  3. Students will be debarred form the examination hall, if he/she: . Is found cheating during the examination . Is found resorting to any unfair means to get better marks in the examination.
  4. Pass marks in individual paper paper is 40% and overall aggregate is 50%.
  5. A studded is required to pass in individual papers as well as in aggregate.
  6. Even if a student fails in aggregate or in individual papers, he/she will be promoted to the next year and will have the opportunity to clear the back papers in the next year i.e. he/she will b permitted to keep terms (ATKT)
  7. A student may continue to get promotion even without passing annual examination, by he/she will have only 5 years (3 years + 2 years additional) to clear all individual papers as well as aggregate in all examinations.
  8. If a student fails to pass in each individual paper as well as aggregate in maximum number of allotted years, no mark sheet or final diploma will be awarded and his / her name will be struck off from the Institute register.
  9. Final diploma or pass mark sheet will not be issued until and unless the student has complied with point 7.
  10. Results will be declared within 45 calendar days from the conclusion of the examination and guardians will be intimated through post.
  11. Students, if not satisfied with the marks obtained in certain paper, may appeal in writing, to consider a re-valuation to the Principal, within 7 days from the declaration of the result, stating reasons for dissatisfaction and pay a stipulated fee for re-valuation. The result of re-valuation will be final.
  12. The Institution believes in transparent relationship and hence the answer script of those students, who had appealed for re-valuation may be shown to them, but this facility may not be claimed as a matter of right as it is left to the discretion of the Institute. 13. Once a student passes in the examination, he / she will not be allowed to sit for re-examination with the purpose of obtaining better marks.

F. INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

  1. All students will have to undergo 12 months (three semesters) Industrial Training in hotels, as a part of their curriculum. The students will have training in the attached hotel kitchen for 2 semesters and for one semester students will be recommended Industrial Training in other hotels.
  2. All expenses during Industrial Training, viz, to and fro fare to the training place, accommodation, food, etc. will have to be borne by the individual student.
  3. Hotels, generally do not provide accommodation during training, but however, provides on-duty meals with or without token amount.
  4. Industrial Training, once decided by the Institute will be final and binding on all students. Students and guardians are requested not to request for change in Industrial Training.
  5. Students will have to undergo their training in the hotel decided for them and any other certificate apart from the hotel decided will not be entertained.
  6. Students leaving the training in midway will be treated as gross indiscipline and their training will be treated as cancelled and the student will have to repeat the semester.
  7. The Institute will not arrange for any alternative training programme, other than previously selected programmes.
  8. Students however may arrange their own Industrial Training, but in such case they will have to seek permission from the Institute, in writing, well in advance.

G. LIBRARY

  1. Only one book will be issued at a time for a maximum of 3 days.
  2. Necessary late fine is to be paid, if books are not returned or reissued, within 3 days.
  3. Books will not be reissued for two consecutive times.
  4. If books are not returned within 30 calendar days from the date of issue, double the price of the book is to be paid as fine, as the book will be considered as lost.
  5. Marking on the book or tearing off pages from the book is strictly prohibited. Anyone found guilty, the same penalty as point 4 will be imposed.
  6. Students are requested to check the condition of the book before taking and if any discrepancy is noticed, then it should be brought to the knowledge of the administrative office / library immediately.

FINES AND PENALTIES

  1. Library Fine (per day) - Rs. 2
  2. Duplicate Identity card - Rs. 25/-
  3. Duplicate Journals - Rs. 300/-
  4. Duplicate Logbook - Rs. 150/-
  5. Any other disciplinary fine - Rs. 100/-
  6. Re-valuation fee (per paper) - Rs. 50/-
